EBBC - Newsletter December 2018
We are happy to present you the most recent Newsletter of the European Business and Biodiversity Campaign (EBBC).
The year 2018 ends with important resolutions of the 14th UN Biodiversity Conference of the Parties (CBD COP14), which took place in Egypt at the end of November. The conference paves the way for a global framework to combat the extinction of species, which is to be adopted in Beijing in 2020. The decisions made are generally to be seen as positive, but there is still a lack of effective implementation and political commitment. This makes the voluntary obligations of companies to include biodiversity in their corporate responsibility all the more important.
In December we focus our attention on the negotiations on the Common Agricultural Policy that are taking place in the European Parliament. We would like to refer once again to our position paper "How to reinforce biodiversity performance in the future Common Agricultural Policy". Within the framework of the LIFE Food & Biodiversity project, this paper makes recommendations for improving "greening" and improving the CAP's rural development policy. We must not miss the opportunity to make the protection of biodiversity in agriculture more effective!
More interesting news, publications and events will be presented in the course of this newsletter. Enjoy reading!
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
